Stepfather Arrested for Suspected Murder of His Two-Year-Old Stepdaughter

A man suspected of killing his two-year-old stepdaughter was apprehended this Friday during a raid in the Herrera district of La Chorrera. The investigation into this case began on December 3rd when the minor died at a medical center, where she had been taken by her stepfather, claiming she had fallen. However, medical reports indicated that the child had recent facial injuries and old scars, clear evidence of child abuse. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued for the stepfather on charges of crimes against life and personal integrity in the form of femicide, and against the legal and family order for mistreatment. The 24-year-old man was in charge of the minor while her mother traveled to San Miguelito for a job interview. The suspect was transferred to the Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor's Office of West Panama, and the investigation continues.
